Burks, Dimmer engaged
Willie Dimmer, the late Maude Evelyn Dimmer and Virginia Spivey are pleased to announce the engagement and approaching wedding of their daughter, Tashika Dimmer, of Ruston, to Andre Burks, of Ruston.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late John Henry and Annie Mae Huey and the late Clarence and Pearl Ann Dimmer.
The 2004 Ruston High School alumna graduated magna cum laude from Grambling State University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in nursing. While at GSU, Tashika was in the Student Nurses Association, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Alpha Lambda Delta Honors Society and Earl Lester Cole Honors College.
She is employed as a registered nurse in labor and delivery at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport.
The groom is the son of James and Vera Burks, of Ruston. He is the grandson of the late J.C. Jordan and Lendy Jordan and the late Bill and Geneva Burks. Andre graduated from Grambling High School with honors in 2004 before going on to Grambling State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration in May 2008. While at GSU, he was a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and the Student Government Association.
Andre is employed as an ATM service technician at Pendum, LLC., in Shreveport.
The couple plan to wed in a 5 p.m. ceremony Aug. 7 at the Ruston Civic Center.
