Funeral service for Mr. William (Cecil) Davis, age 91, of Ruston, LA will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, August 6, 2010 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. Officiating the service will be Dr. Mike Holloway. Interment will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Bienville, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston, LA.

Mr. Davis was born August 9, 1918 and passed away August 2, 2010.

He was a wonderful husband, daddy, grandfather, father-in-law and great-grandfather. His family looked up to him because of his; loving, giving, caring, gentle, honorable and Godly character. We will always love him with all our hearts. Mr. Davis was a member of Cook Baptist Church in Ruston; he served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of WWII. He received a Purple Heart as one of the survivors of the sinking of the Leopoldville on the way to the Battle of the Bulge.

He is survived by his wife Alice Durbin Davis of Ruston, LA; daughter: Wanda Whatley and husband Gary of Houston, TX.; grandsons; Kevin Whatley and wife Shannon of The Woodlands, TX, and Kyle Whatley and wife Erica of Conshohocken, PA; great-grandchildren: William Davis Whatley, Reagan Whatley, Evan Whatley and Spencer Whatley all of The Woodlands TX; sisters: Mattie Russell of West Monroe, LA, Elasca Norred of North Hodge, LA, and Betty Sue Bolls of Jonesboro, LA; brother: Sam Davis of Jacksonville, AR; dear family friend Barbara Livingston of Monroe, LA, and beloved nieces Shirley Humphrey, Janice Mercer, Denise Norwood and Jayne Cooper.

Pallbearers will be Gary Whatley, Kevin Whatley, Kyle Whatley, Ronnie Mercer, Richard Jones, Mike Cooper, Sean Cooper and Dan Norwood. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday August 5, 2010 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston, LA.

The family thanks Dr. Ed Mariano, Dr. Osafo and the caring staff in the Skilled Nursing Facility at N. Louisiana Medical Center.
