Adam Van (12) and the Cedar Creek Cougars will be in action on Friday as they head to Delhi to play a District 2-1A game against the Bears. Also in action in their second-to-last games of the regular season will be the Ruston Bearcats, who head to Monroe to take on Wossman and the Grambling Lab Kittens, who have a 7 p.m. home contest against Arcadia.

Emergency personnel responded to a wreck at approximately 8:30 a.m. today at the intersection of Heard Road and U.S. Highway 80 near Grambling. Grambling Police officers on the scene said preliminary investigations revealed that a gold truck was traveling south on Stadium Drive and suddenly turned in front of a red truck traveling west on U.S. Highway 80.

Students at Cypress Springs Elementary School in Ruston enjoyed a Mardi Gras parade given by the third-grade class on Tuesday afternoon on the school grounds.
Third graders are learning about Louisiana history and the origins of Mardi Gras. According to inclusion teacher Ramona Adams, the students had been preparing costumes, floats and beads for several weeks. She said other teachers and parents helped to make the entire parade experience a success.
Tomatoes, bell peppers and ferns are all growing in the Lincoln Parish Detention Center greenhouse.
Warden Jim Tuten said the greenhouse was constructed in order to jump start the 2015 garden.
“We lost a lot of time last year because we were starting from the very beginning,” he said. “With the greenhouse, we are able to start tomato seedlings and bell peppers to get a jump start on the garden.”
Tuten said the garden has more than doubled in size from the original garden.
