William and Nancy Hanks celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 17. Their family hosted an evening of food and fellowship at the Hanks’ home. The Hanks were married Oct. 15, 1960. They have two children, Mike Hanks and wife Cammie, and Jackie Billberry and husband Philip. They have four grandchildren, Lance Billberry, Brittney Billberry, Hunter Hanks and Abigail Hanks.

The Justice Department announced the U.S. District Court of the Western District of Louisiana approved a court-ordered agreement with the Lincoln Parish School Board to desegregate classrooms at four elementary schools servicing students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade in Ruston.
The board and the department jointly filed the consent order, according to documents obtained.
Under the consent order, the board will implement:
Dave Norris, executive director of the Enterprise Center at Louisiana Tech University, has been invited by the U.S. Department of Commerce to participate in two panel discussions in Washington D.C. with senior administration officials and higher education leaders from around the country.
Norris received the invitations to discuss the mission and progress of Louisiana Tech’s LA_i6 Proof of Concept Center, which supports and expedites the introduction of new “green” technology innovations into markets throughout the region and the nation. Tech received a $1.1 million grant award from the Economic Development Administration to establish LA_i6 in September 2011 as a winner of the Innovation 6 National Competition.
