William and Nancy Hanks celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 17. Their family hosted an evening of food and fellowship at the Hanks’ home. The Hanks were married Oct. 15, 1960. They have two children, Mike Hanks and wife Cammie, and Jackie Billberry and husband Philip. They have four grandchildren, Lance Billberry, Brittney Billberry, Hunter Hanks and Abigail Hanks.

If Louisiana residents say yes, a constitutional amendment up for vote on Nov. 2 could pour millions of dollars back into Lincoln Parish.
Constitutional Amendment No. 2, introduced through legislation by Rep. Rick Gallot, D-Grambling, proposes to increase the cap on individual parishes’ share of funds the state collects from severance taxes for oil and gas exploration.
After a journey that began back in 2012, Lincoln Preparatory School will complete its first week of class today.
Gordan Ford, Lincoln Preparatory School executive director, said the process to open up the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education approved, kindergarten through 12th grade Type 2 charter school was long and winding, but the school is finally open.
“It’s exciting,” he said. “Everyone in the school is excited — from the students on up.”
