GRAMBLING — With an interested party already asking the town to sell the Grambling Medical Center building to them, the city council voted to sell the building Thursday night at their December city council meeting.
The council voted to sell the building and the land for the property, but will keep the items, such as medical equipment, etc., located in the building.
Grambling dentist and Tru Care Dental owner Rhonda Pruitt expressed interest to the council for the purchase of the building, because she said she would like to own her facility to have the capability to expand.
Louisiana Treasurer John Kennedy said Monday he will try again in 2014 to convince lawmakers to approve a 10 percent reduction in state consulting contracts.
But the new bill will have an added twist: The roughly $526 million in annual savings will be dedicated to higher education.
The revamped legislation is Kennedy’s latest move in his fight against what he calls the “nonsense” of millions of taxpayer dollars allocated each year to questionable contracts and nongovernmental organizations.
