Major League Baseball’s New York Yankees did it four times from 1936-39 and another five times from 1949-53.
The National Basketball Association’s Boston Celtics did it eight consecutive times from 1959-66.
And the UCLA men’s basketball team did it seven straight times from 1967-73.
Winning two consecutive championships is never easy in any sport. So add the Ruston High School Bearcats boys’ swim team to the above list of dynasties after they captured their fourth consecutive state title at the Sulphur Parks and Recreation’s Aquatic Center in November.
Last year, Ruston’s leaders decided that they needed to do something to help make the community safer.
They didn’t want to wait to find a grant that might not come through, further jeopardizing their citizen’s safety. So, they took money from the city’s coffers — money designated to improve life for the town’s citizens — and erected poles and placed a new siren alarm system, designed to alert the community when bad weather was afoot.
