The Lincoln Parish Sales and Use Tax Commission met Tuesday morning to discuss its 2015-16 proposed budget.
Denise Griggs, administrator for the commission, said the budget was just a proposal and would become more finalized in the coming months before it was due for approval in May.
The 2014-15 budget totaled $372,793. The proposed 2015-16 the budget is expected to reach $334,603.
Griggs said this budget does include numbers from Union Parish.
With those Union Parish numbers subtracted, the net budget is scheduled to roll in at $189,603.
Union Parish law enforcement officials have made an arrest in the rape of 17-year-old girl, that occurred inside the Union Parish Detention Center.
Demarcus Shavez Peyton, 28, of Homer, had previously been convicted of rape and was in custody awaiting sentencing set for Tuesday.
Union Parish sheriff’s deputies said Peyton has been charged with third-degree rape after being allowed inside an isolation cell with the teenager after she was booked into the detention center April 19 on methamphetamine-related charges.
The Union Parish Police Jury operates the detention center.
