A man and a woman were arrested at around 2 a.m. today by local law enforcement officials on drug possession and distribution charges.
Kimberly Renee Dailey, 38, of 13012 Greenway Chase Court, Houston, and King Jelani Marwan Beckwith, 26, of 118 Richmond St., were arrested by the Lincoln Parish Narcotics Enforcement Team and the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office after a confidential informant reportedly purchased 40 units of hydrocodone (Vicodin).
GRAMBLING — The town of Grambling is on track to do something it’s failed to do for quite some time now — turn in an audit report on time.
That was the news Mayor Edward Jones presented to the Town Council during its monthly meeting on July 8.
The state Legislative Auditor’s Office released the town of Grambling’s 2009 fiscal year audit last March with 19 negative findings addressed by Hulsey, Harwood and Sheridan, the firm that handled the audit. That audit was the town’s third straight to receive no opinion because of incomplete records.
The Ruston Rotary Club proudly announces the recipients of the October Student of the Month Awards. Recognized by Rotarian and Program Coordinator Jim Tuten, each student was honored at the Oct. 19 luncheon and presented an award of achievement. Each awardee has maintained a minimum GPA of 3.5 or higher and been active in extra curricular activities and leadership roles on their perspective school campus.
In conjunction with our Hometown Teams Smithsonian Exhibit, the Lincoln Parish Library Children’s Department is presenting Cheerleading Through the Ages at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Lincoln Parish Library Events Center.
“We will look at the history of cheerleading, discover some famous personalities who got their start as a cheerleader or mascot, and be led in a few simple cheers,” said Sarah Creekmore, administrative assistant at the library.
