The first annual Grambling Fire Department versus Police Department basketball game is set for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Grambling High School gym. Organizers are seeking a $5 entry fee, with proceeds to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Cathi Cox-Boniol never imagined that the bus driver with a cute dimple she met on a field trip with her job with the Lincoln Parish School Board would someday take a trip down the aisle with her.
Her first encounter with him was while she was fretting over how to get a huge cooler on the bus. She was in the middle of telling a co-worker that she would have to get some kids to help her, when he showed up.
“Before I could finish, the cooler was gone,” Cox-Boniol said. “I thought, ‘It’s a hulk.’”
The Ruston Daily Leader has promoted Jessica Darden to managing editor.
Darden, a native of Columbia, graduated from Louisiana Tech University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and History.
“Jessica has done a great job covering this region with the quality journalism that readers expect from the Daily Leader,” Rick Hohlt, publisher of the Daily Leader, said. “Her leadership and talent will further improve this newspaper and our growing community.”
Darden has been employed by the Daily Leader since 2013. She is also the editor of the quarterly Living Well magazine.
