Arcadia took advantage of a pair of Cedar Creek miscues Friday to defeat the Cougars 36-20 in District 1-1A play at Cougar Stadium.
The Hornets struck first late in the opening quarter to go up 8-0 following a long drive after Cedar Creek fumbled the ball away before moving out in front 14-0 at the 4:51 mark of the second quarter after picking off Cougars quarterback Tanner Disotell and returning the ball for a score.
More than the high finishes or awards, John Allen is discovering that post-college competition is more about the friendships that are made.
“Now that I have been involved in this Senior competition for two years,” said the former Louisiana Tech University javelin thrower, “I have developed friendships with many athletes from all over the country.
“As we get to know each other better, I am finding that each of us is planning competition schedules so that we can go heads up as often as possible.”
