Christmas is coming to downtown Ruston. About 30 merchant members of the city’s Main Street organization fanned throughout the central business district Wednesday morning wrapping 26 trees with decorative white lights. The lights will be turned on in mid-November, along with strands city utility crews will hang over downtown streets. The early lighting came at the request of merchants who wanted the city to begin taking on a festive air prior to the Kickoff to Christmas event on Dec. 1, Haley Perot, Ruston’s Main Street director and community coordinator said.
