Martin Wade Toms

Mr. Martin Wade Toms, age 60 of Bienville, passed away suddenly at his residence on January 16, 2018. Mr. Toms was a forester for Weyehaeuser Forest Products. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a member of The Bridge Community Church in Ruston, La.

John Fowler

John Robert Fowler, Jr., born in Ruston, LA and a resident of Baton Rouge since 2010, passed away at his home on Saturday morning, January 13, 2018, at the age of 81. He was educated at Louisiana Tech and Mississippi State University at Starkville. He served four years in the U.S. Navy and another eight years in the U.S. Navy Reserve. He worked for the Louisiana State Tax Department then became Associate Professor of Computer Sciences at LA Tech Business School. His hobbies and interests included mechanics and fishing.

JoAnn Grafton

Funeral services for JoAnn W. Grafton, 80, of Ruston will be Sunday, January 14, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Visitation will be Sunday from 12:00 PM until the service.

Edna Mae Melder


Edna Mae Melder, age 86 of Ruston passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Northern Louisiana Medical Center. Mrs. Melder worked in the school system as a Cafeteria Manager.
Friends may visit with the family 5:00pm until 7:00pm Wednesday at Edmonds Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, January 11, 2018 in the Edmonds Chapel with Rev. Todd Free officiating. Interment will be in Caney Lake Baptist Church Cemetery.

Bonnie Holland Hennigan

On Friday, January 5, 2018, Bonnie Holland Hennigan, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many, passed away at the age of 88. Born to Boyd and Essie Holland of Bienville, LA on January 30, 1929, Bonnie passed surrounded by her loved ones in Ruston, LA.
Bonnie will be remembered for her fierce commitment to her children and grandchildren, deep love of her friends, and unwavering support of her late husband, Col. John Hennigan, during his 24 years of service in the U.S. Army.

Lee Sutton


Lee Sutton's Remembrance
Merry Lee Stout Sutton, 65, of Ruston, died peacefully at home on January 1, 2018, surrounded by family. Lee was born March 29, 1952, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Edward L. Stout Jr. and Linda Grace Tugwell Stout. After losing her mother a short time after birth, Lee was raised for 4 years by her father, and her grandparents, Metz and Artie Tugwell of Farmerville. Lee's time in Farmerville was happy and had a positive effect on the rest of her life. In 1956, her father married Mitzi Bailey, who loved and cared for Lee, as her own, for the rest of her life.

Melba Oxford Whitman

Funeral services for Melba Oxford Whitman, age 92, of Ruston, LA (formerly of Jonesboro, LA) will be held at 2 PM Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Owens Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dale Oden officiating. Burial will follow in Unionville Cemetery near Dubach under the direction of Owens Funeral Home. Family will receive friends on Friday, December 29th from 5-7 PM at Owens Funeral Home.
Melba was born in Hico, LA on January 30, 1925 and passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Alpine Nursing Home in Ruston, LA with her children by her side.

Joyce Miller

Graveside memorial services for Joyce A. Miller, 85 of Quitman, will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, December 29, 2017 in Forest Lawn Cemetery with Brother Eddie Ballance of New Hope Baptist Church, Athens, LA officiating under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel of Ruston. Mrs Miller died, Friday, December 22, 2017.

Bobbie Wayne Clark, 82, of Ruston, passed away with his family by his side on December 27, 2017, after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Owens Memorial Chapel in Ruston with Brother Randy Ray officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.

John Huckaby


John Arthur Huckaby, 52, passed away unexpectedly on December 17th,
2017, from a heart attack. A memorial will be held on December 21st at the Cedar Creek gym, 2400 Cedar Creek Drive in Ruston, Louisiana, beginning at 6pm. A viewing will be held the following morning, December 22nd at the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 205 W Woodhaven Road in Ruston,
Louisiana, from 9am to 11am. Funeral services will follow at 11am with
limited seating available. Burial will take place in the Garden of
Memories Cemetery in Winnfield, Louisiana, immediately following the funeral.
