Tech ASCE team wins 12 events at Gulf Coast regional symposium

Louisiana Tech University’s American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) student organization won second place at the 2022 Gulf Coast Student Symposium after finishing in first place in 12 competitions. The team also placed second in a competition and third in two others.

Retired Teachers Association hosts Stegall

The Lincoln Parish Retired Teachers Association held its monthly meeting on April 6 in the Community Room of the Lincoln Parish Library. Following an Easter-themed fellowship complete with goodies supplied by the members, a presentation on “What’s New in Ruston” was given by Amy Stegall, Main Street Director for the City of Ruston. Linda Wallace is seen enjoying the refreshments before LPRTA members engaged with Stegall’s presentation which featured many updates on the City as well as plans for the future. The final meeting of the year for the education group is scheduled for May 4, and will feature the annual fish fry held at Lincoln Parish Park. Leader photos by Cathi Cox-Boniol

DEAR HARRIETTE: I’m afraid that most of the advice that my mentor offers me is not helpful. She is incredibly successful in the field that I aspire to work in, but she is from a different time. A lot of the steps that she took to get to where she is today wouldn’t work for me.
