The SCILS Region 8 LaSTEM Center team from Louisiana Tech University spent a day in Jonesboro working with the Jackson Parish 4-H STEM Day. Groups of students rotated through the SCILS session where they collaborated in small teams on an engineering design exercise that challenged them to create the longest, free-extending cantilever arm possible using only paint stirrers and washers. The 4-H participants rose to the challenge with multiple groups exceeding their goals and even breaking established records for the challenge.
