Outstanding among the city’s recreational facilities is the natatorium, built in 1931 at a cost of $25,000. Ruston is also proud of its park, located about one and one-half miles from the business district. Known as Woodland Park, it is true to its name, for there are beautiful trees, a lake suitable for fishing and boating, and picnic facilities built during the administration of Mayor Charles C. Goyne. There was also a nine-hole golf course at the Ruston Country Club on the Jonesboro highway.
