There’s nothing better than the smell of fresh catch sizzling on the grill after a long day on the water. But not all fishermen or alligator hunters like to cook their own catch and sometimes they don’t know what to do with their catch after a fishing or alligator hunting trip. So, why not leave it to the professionals?
It began with a dynamite meal last Thursday night at the Ruston Civic Center when the 8th annual fundraising banquet for Whitetails Unlimited was launched. Have you ever had Log Cabin’s “Catfish Opelousas” meal? A catfish filet resting on a bed of rice with crawfish etouffee drizzled over the top was “slap yo mama” good.
VFW Post 3615 Commander Tom Boniol stopped by the Lincoln Parish Public Safety Complex to recognize Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office employee Franke Landers with an additional honor as Dispatcher of the Year. Already named the local Post winner, Landers (left) is seen holding the award commemorating her taking top honors for District 11 while Boniol is holding the plaque representing her third-place award in the state competition.
It’s National Banana Split Day so in honor of the elongated, edible fruit that botanically is actually a berry, give these dishes built around bananas a whirl!
Funeral services for Mrs. Janice Ruth “Jan” Williamson, age 80, of Kingwood, Texas, will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Owens Memorial Chapel in Ruston, with Kim Long officiating.
