The flag at City Hall in Ruston is flying at half staff this week in honor of the death of former Mayor Hilda Taylor Perritt. Funeral services for Perritt will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church of Ruston, with interment to follow in Cook Cemetery.

Taylor Ryan Young Memorial Scholarship winner

Lincoln Rotary Club and Centric Federal Credit Union recently presented the 2024 Taylor Ryan Young Memorial Scholarship. The annual $2,000 award was created to honor Young after he unexpectedly passed away. Because of Young’s love of music and community, the scholarship award is presented to a deserving recipient who is a member of the Ruston High School Band and will be attending Louisiana Tech University. This year’s recipient is Riley Green who will be attending Tech in the fall and majoring in mechanical engineering.
