More than five years after it was first announced, the Digital Library and Learning Commons at Grambling State University is now officially open. Dignitaries from across the campus and state gathered Thursday morning to cut the ribbon on the $16.6 million, 50,000 square-foot facility that has been years in the making. The state-of-the-art building is designed to support all aspects of learning, with more than 150 computer stations, 17,000 square feet of study space, several multipurpose spaces, an innovative center for students to create, design and develop, and more. Pictured above, GSU figureheads of past and present look down from the walls as students and visitors take in the building’s interior for the first time. After the ribbon cutting, GSU also hosted the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors’ meeting Thursday. Look for more on the Digital Library and Learning Commons in Sunday’s edition.
