On the fifth anniversary of the killer tornado that ripped its way across Ruston on April 25, 2019, about 100 people gathered at the base of the century-old smokestack on North Monroe Street to dedicate a space at the base of the stack to the victims of the storm and to Ruston’s resilience in the tornado’s wake.

With fireworks tents and stands selling for the holiday, the State Fire Marshal’s Office wants to encourage all Louisiana residents to not only be safe when using fireworks, but knowledgeable when buying them.
