A week of no school due to icy weather meant a week of no free meals for many Lincoln Parish students. But on Friday a host of volunteers, civic organizations, area restaurants and other businesses came together to provide hot meals and weekend snack bags for hundreds of local children. Organized by Victoria Sullivan, Rebecca Smart, Morgan Thornhill and Jamie Dendy, volunteers gathered at the Ruston Sports Complex to cook the meals, assemble the bags and serve a line of cars throughout the day. Left, volunteers work to box up the hot lunches while right, six-year-old Jase Dendy hands a snack bag to a family at the car line.
