GRAMBLING — The Grambling State University Police Department has been awarded a $400,000 grant to establish a comprehensive, community approach to combat domestic violence, dating, and other violence against women.
Passenger train service along the I-20 corridor through Ruston is a bit closer now that the Southern Rail Commission has received federal funding to support further planning and development of two Louisiana routes.
GRAMBLING — Grambling’s City Council has taken the next step toward receiving a $547,000 forgivable loan from Louisiana’s Department of Environmental Quality.
The Lincoln Parish Museum enjoyed a packed house for its annual Holiday Open House. With classic train sets as a featured attraction, patrons and guests browsed through festively decorated rooms while immersing themselves in the rich history of the parish. Bottom right, Lawrence Gibbs and Pearson Cross were one of the acts providing music throughout the evening as attendees such as Ruston Mayor Ronny Walker and Jerry Pye (top right) spent time visiting. The beautiful buffet was a highlight as Dianne Douglas (below left) initiated the charcuterie board and top left, Doug Postel along with Billie and Robert Dawkins made their way through the tempting delicacies. Ensuring a positive impact on the forestry industry across the southern United States, Martin Sustainable Resources LLC in Alexandria recently donated $1 million to Louisiana Tech as a leadership gift toward construction of the University’s new Forest Products Innovation Center (FPIC), with the assurance of another $1 million to be presented by June 2024.
GRAMBLING — The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences at Grambling State University (GSU) has been named as a recipient of a $2 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education that will benefit university students in need of childcare while they attend classes.
Recently Tom and I had to fly in and out of Memphis. When we returned around midnight, we decided to drive by Graceland and see if the Christmas lights were still on. Much to our delight, everything was completely lit up; in fact, there seemed to be an over- abundance of lights on the property.
