Following the 2023 Scouting for Food initiative, Christian Community Action was abuzz with volunteer activity as the organization worked to organize and collect the more than 6,350 items donated through the annual Boy Scouts community service project. Stephanie Matthews, CCA Executive Director, shared that all food collected in Lincoln Parish stays in the local community to meet its needs. Matthews expressed thanks to Rusty Edwards, Rex Hobbs, Origin Bank, Ruston High School National Honor Society, Sigma Nu fraternity, Cedar Creek National Honor Society, Girl Scouts Troop 351, Boy Scouts Troops, Packs and Cub Scouts, Emmanuel Baptist Church, the 34 CCA volunteers and everyone throughout the area who donated food items for making the event the success it was.

Over the next three weeks, between the egg nog, Christmas ham, and New Year’s fireworks, you may have an opportunity to speak to a loved one about injuries you suspect are not “accidental.”

Did I want to write a book? Absolutely. Did I think I could? Yes. Would I actually get down to writing one? Not sure; not sure at all. The very thought of trying to put a book together was overwhelming. One day, I’d think I could do it.
