DEAR HARRIETTE: My friends and I — all three of us are Black men — were attempting to get into a club in downtown Huntsville, Alabama, when we were told that we were breaking the dress code.
In last week’s column, you read about the plight of bluebirds that are largely absent from our area today. The culprit that took a heavy toll of these birds seems to be the snow, ice and frigid temperatures we endured back in February.

GRAMBLING — The dawn of a new era in Tiger Land took place here Thursday as Grambling State University announced the hiring of a new athletic director.
The bid for the next portion of Ruston’s downtown Streetscape program that is scheduled to get underway this summer has come in about $1.8 million higher than the city anticipated, but that doesn’t mean the work has been put on hold just yet.
