Simsboro overpass reopens to public

The LA Highway 507 overpass in Simsboro has been reopened to traffic. According to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, the overpass was closed to traffic Nov. 20 to remove the old bridge spans.

In a special called meeting Tuesday evening, the Lincoln Parish Police Jury discussed a complaint filed against Parish Administrator Doug Postel and appointed a new member to the parish library’s Board of Control, finishing a process roughly half a year in the making.

Tech assistant vice president selected as BAFB Honorary Commander

Donna Johnson, assistant vice president for academic advancement and partnerships at Louisiana Tech University, has been selected to participate in the revamped Barksdale Air Force Base Honorary Commanders Program beginning in mid-December, further strengthening the university’s partnership with the home of Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC).

Lincoln Rotary provides Christmas meal boxes

Members of Lincoln Rotary recently served the community by providing Christmas meal boxes for 120 families in Lincoln Parish. Each box included everything needed for a Christmas dinner, including a ham. Partners in the project included Shoppers Value Foods of Ruston, The Bridge Community Church, Goodwill Lunching, and First National Bank. Lincoln Rotary also extended thanks to Rotary District 6190, Origin Bank, Century Next Bank, Courtesy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Ruston, and Wingstop for their support.
