There was little industrial development in Ruston until the coming in 1901 of the Chicago, Rock Island, and Pacific Railroad. The people of Ruston had long envisioned the time when another railroad should be built. They expected capital to be induced to come here, freight rates to be lowered, and business to increase in every direction.
