Earlier this week, local veterans, guard, reserve and active-duty service members were feted with a special breakfast courtesy of Century Next Bank in Ruston. The inaugural Veterans Appreciation Breakfast was a chance for the bank to host and share a meal with the fine men and women who have served and continue to serve the nation. As part of the event, vocalists from the Louisiana Tech University choir sang the National Anthem while the Louisiana Tech Air Force ROTC performed the color-guard ceremony.

A former Grambling State University basketball player who two years ago received a suspended sentence and probation on a string of assault charges has been arrested again for allegedly forcing his way into a former girlfriend’s apartment, then running from police.
Lincoln Parish is now officially part of the Louisiana State Mesonet’s growing network of weather data, operated by the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Installed on Oct. 29, a 30-foot tower off Big Creek Road in Dubach is collecting temperature, wind, precipitation and many other data points, and that real-time data is now live and free to view online at wxdata.geos.ulm.edu/mesonet/DUBA. A camera on the tower also gives interested parties a peek at live conditions in the area.
