Selwyn Birchwood, a powerhouse young guitarist and soulful vocalist, brought the blues to the stage of the Dixie Center for the Arts over the weekend. The award-winning Florida-based musician showcased a vibrant stage persona while thrilling blues lovers of all ages in the audience.
Pumpkins were front and center for Downtown Ruston’s annual Pumpkins in the Park fall event over the weekend. Railroad Park in historic downtown Ruston was filled with pumpkins of every shape and size for everyone to enjoy. Thanks to the help of some special partners, the event was made all the more special. Louisiana Tech University’s Sigma Nu Fraternity (above left) helped deliver and place the pumpkins. Tech’s Pre-Dental Association (below left) helped with activities for kids. The Lincoln Parish Library (above right) also came out to share a silly pumpkin story with the children.

Plainly speaking, Cedar Creek ( 0- 5, 0- 1 district) looks to be in position to earn its first win of the season in a return to district play this week.
As author Vempre Terrell, Jr. spent his childhood in Lincoln Parish, he found himself consistently reading the Bible and discussing it with others. It is a practice he continues to this day.
