A graveside service honoring the life of Mrs. Billie Laverne Spurlock Ponder of Shreveport, Louisiana, formally of West Monroe, LA, will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2020, at Greenwood Cemetery, 515 Everett Street, Ruston, LA. Dr. Darrell E. Dean will be officiating.

Tritus “Trick” Wright

Tritus “Trick” Wright, 88, was born Dec. 11, 1931, and died Dec. 14, 2020. Visitation will be held from 2 - 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2020. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2020. All services will be held at King’s Funeral Home 1511 W California Ave., Ruston, LA. The next two months will play an important role in Louisiana’s future.

Experience Ruston (the Ruston Lincoln Parish Convention & Visitors Bureau) has announce they have been named the recipient of the Southeast Tourism Society 2020 Shining Example Award for Tourism Office of the Year. The Experience Ruston team accepted the award Feb. 11 in Little Rock at the STS awards banquet.

GRAMBLING — The latest subject of ESPN’s 30 for 30 profile stories will appear at Grambling State University for a VIP Meet and Greet from 5 - 6 p.m. on Feb. 28 before serving as the guest speaker at the GSU Football Awards Program at the Favrot Student Union later that night.
