Baton Rouge native C. J. Solar brought his own version of Southern rock to the stage of Ruston’s Dixie Center for the Arts over the weekend. Cited by Rolling Stone magazine as a, “New Artist You Need to Know,” the Solar show began with a set featuring Morgan Wallen’s No. 1 “Up Down,” and Jameson Rogers’ charttopper “Some Girls.” Solar then romped through a dazzling set of back-to-back classics as he paid tribute to the legendary Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Special tax session to convene next week

Gov. Jeff Landry called the Louisiana Legislature to convene for a special session focused on rebuilding the state’s “outdated tax system and growing our economy,” he said in a press release this week out of Baton Rouge.

Mesonet tower arrives in parish

The Louisiana State Mesonet team was on site Tuesday at the Lincoln Parish Police Jury’s dirt pit on Big Creek Road in Dubach to erect the next weather data-collecting tower for the new statewide network. A project helmed by the University of Louisiana at Monroe, the Mesonet will collect a variety of weather data from 50 towers across the state. Live data for each site will be available to the public online.
