Sibille to speak to Tech grads

Louisiana Tech will hold winter commencement ceremonies at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Thomas Assembly Center.
Winfred Sibille, chairman of the Board of Supervisors for the University of Louisiana System, will serve as guest speaker for the event.
Sibille, who served in the U.S. Calvary Division in World War II, was a legislative consultant and lobbyist for the Louisiana School Boards Association.

Kittens capture district 1-1A title

Grambling High’s boys wrapped up the District 1-1A championship on Friday night at the Cotton Valley High School gymnasium with a 68-60 win over Plain Dealing.
The Kittens (23-5), ranked No. 3 in the weekly Class 1A Louisiana Sports Writers Association poll, had four players to score in double figures.
Chauney Wiley led the way with 16 points, Heath Moore had 13 points, DeVontre Jackson netted 13 points and JeQualyn Brantley finished with 10 points.
Coach Fred Hearn’s Kittens will learn of their first-round foe in the Louisiana High School Athletic Association playoffs on Monday.
