MINUTES. CITY OF GRAMBLING, GRAMBLING, LOUISIANA. Monthly Meeting August 14, 2014 Mayor Edward R. Jones opened the regular session of the Grambling City Council at 6: 00 p.m. at Grambling City Hall. Mr. William Arrington offered the invocation and led the council and congregation into the Pledge of Allegiance. Present were the following Council members: Birdex Copeland, Jr., Yanise Days, Cathy Holmes, Roy Jackson, and Cullen Jackson. Absent: None. It was moved by Council member Roy Jackson and seconded by Council member Birdex Copeland, Jr. to adopt the Minutes dated July 3, 2014.

NT@R named demonstration site

For the fourth consecutive year, New Tech @ Ruston has been named one of the top New Tech Network national demonstration sites for the 2014-15 school year.
Kris Williams, coaching manager for NTN in Napa, California said the designation places New Tech @ Ruston in an elite group of schools throughout the country; serving as a model for other New Tech programs to follow.

Grambling to host historic towns’ mayors

The city of Grambling will host mayors from five historic black towns across the United States.
Grambling Mayor Ed Jones said the group Historic Black Towns and Settlements Alliance, Inc., was formed to advance the historic preservation of the locations.
The alliance includes Grambling, Hobson City, Alabama, Tuskegee, Alabama, Eatonville, Florida, and Mound Bayou, Mississippi.
Jones added that each of the cities have ties to Booker T. Washington.
“Each of the five towns has its own unique history and authentic direct legacies with ties to Booker T. Washington,” Jones said.

Benefit set for cancer patient

On Saturday the North Central Chapter of the Southern Cruisers will be hosting an event at Madden Memorial Park in Simsboro.
The park is located on U.S. Highway 80 across from Simsboro High School.
This will be a family event with a children's play area, live music, great food, vendors, poker run and chicken cook-off competition.
The Southern Cruisers Riding Club frequently supports St. Jude.
The organization recently became aware that Bill Patton's nephew Casen Broussard was admitted to St. Jude with stage four cancer. Casen is only 3 years old.
