Bulldogs take care of Old Dominion

The Louisiana Tech baseball team saw a strong pitching performance from starter David Leal, and four RBI each from Steele Netterville and Parker Bates, en route to an 11-3 triumph over Old Dominion in front of 1,376 at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park on Thursday evening.

Ramirez and Felder lead Tigers past Hornets

NEW ORLEANS — Rafael Ramirez went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and four RBIs while Ace Felder went 4-for-4 as the Grambling State University baseball team plated eight runs over the third and fourth innings to defeat Alabama State, 12-7 on Thursday night to advance to today’s Southwestern Athletic Conference Winner’s Bracket final at Wesley Borrow Stadium.

RHS to host Spring game

Head Coach Jerrod Baugh and the Ruston High School Bearcats will play their 2018 Spring Football Game at 6 p.m. Friday when they play host to North Webster on James Field at L.J. “Hoss” Garrett Stadium. Tickets for the contest will cost $5.

Bulldogs add transfer Kalob Ledoux

The Louisiana Tech men’s basketball team added a high-scoring in-state product on Thursday as they announced the signing of guard Kalob Ledoux, who will be transferring from McNeese State to play for the Bulldogs.
Ledoux, a native of Port Barre, is a 6-3, 215-pound combo guard that has spent the past two seasons in Lake Charles while leading the Cowboys in scoring each year and recently earning Third Team All-Southland Conference honors.

Way to grow, Louisiana Tech

When Louisiana Tech University’s spring quarter graduates prepare to receive their diplomas on Saturday, they’ll be marking two new chapters in the school’s history.
Chaper 1: The 1,100 soon-to-be alumni are Tech’s largest single graduating class; Chapter 2: Because of the number of degree candidates, the university is holding two commencement ceremonies.
The College of Applied and Natural Sciences, College of Business and College of Engineering and Science will graduate a total of 691 students beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Thomas Assembly Center.

Summer fun: A beginner’s guide to kayaking

My family has always been one for adventure. So, it was no surprise when my parents purchased two used kayaks from the local fishing, bait and tackle shop. At first I wasn’t to keen on the idea of being suck in a little one-person floaty, but it grows on you. In fact, the ability to go wherever I wanted in the little boat became quite fun.

Exactly why escapes me, but I keep up with dates.
There’s the obvious — birthday, anniversary, etc. But I also remember seemingly trivial things like June 15, 1215 and Aug. 2, 1776 and even May 23, 1934.

Funeral Services for Spc. Duke Gilmore, 34, of the Mississippi National Guard, 1-98th CAV will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday May 20, 2018 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home in Bastrop, Louisiana with Elder Reed Thomson of Spanish Fort, Utah, officiating. Honor Detail lead is SFC Mathew Neunfeldt. Eulogy will be delivered by Major Jordan Thomson of Fort Hood, Texas.
