A Breaux Bridge man is in jail today as a result of a drive-by shooting that occurred at the Revelry Bar and Grill in Grambling early Friday morning.

Employees and patrons dove for cover to avoid the gunfire, Grambling Police Chief Tommy Clark, Jr. said Saturday. No one was injured.

“We were very fortunate no one was shot during this senseless act of violence,” Clark said.

Grambling police arrested 27-year-old Grant Alexander Godeaux in connection with the incident after locating his vehicle at a local hotel.

According to GPD, the shooting happened about 1 a.m. Friday, shortly after Revelry closed. The establishment is located on the South I-20 Service Road near the Ruston city limits.

Godeaux apparently became angry when the bar’s security personnel told him he couldn’t leave the facility with alcohol and it was time for the bar to close.

As Godeaux, whose identity wasn’t known at the time, drove away from the parking lot, he fired a handgun toward the bar as many as eight times, Clark said.

Grambling and Ruston police gathered information and were able to locate Godeaux’s vehicle. Godeaux is charged with illegal carrying of a weapon, illegal use of a weapon, and aggravated assault by drive-by shooting. He remains in the Lincoln Parish Detention Center. Bond had not been set as of Saturday evening.

Clark said the investigation is ongoing and may require additional charges.
