Law enforcement officials respond to the scene where a man died after being hit by a train in downtown Ruston Friday afternoon.
Police have identified the man killed Friday evening by a train in downtown Ruston as 54-year-old M.R. “Trey” Roberson of Dubach.
Authorities said Roberson’s death appears to have been a suicide. Roberson was standing on the track as the westbound Canadian Pacific Kansas City freight train approached around 5:30 p.m. Friday traveling at 55 mph. The incident happened on the tracks across from West Park Avenue.
At the time, the incident blocked traffic during rush hour in downtown Ruston. After hitting Roberson, the train engine stopped at the Homer Street crossing.
