Three charged with attempted murder in Nov. 19 shooting
Lincoln Parish sheriff’s deputies have charged two Ruston men and a juvenile with two counts of attempted first-degree murder each stemming from a drug-related incident last week.
In all, five people, including a 16-year-old, were arrested in connection with the incident that occurred in the early afternoon of Nov. 19 around Donna Lane and Pecan Street, just outside the Ruston city limits.
The last of the suspects was apprehended Saturday.
Jeremieh Are’Tez Green, 21, and Kaleb Dontrell Holland, 19, are each charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, one count each of attempted armed robbery with a gun, and one count each of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.
Green is also charged with illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance. Holland is also charged with illegal discharge of a weapon.
LPSO detective Lt. Matt Henderson said Green, Holland and the juvenile apparently met 17-year-old Tremarious Divon Lewis, and 18-year-old Karmekizik Z’Carlos Barber, saying they wanted to buy some marijuana from Lewis.
But the three reportedly planned on stealing the marijuana all along, Henderson said.
At some point, they opened fire on the vehicle in which Lewis and Barber, both from Jonesboro, were sitting. Though the car was riddled with bullet holes, no one was hit.
Authorities said they found up to 30 bullet casings in the area.
Lewis and Barber were arrested on the day the incident happened after they told LPSO deputies they had been the victims of a shooting.
Deputies found a disabled vehicle near the intersection of Hwy. 146 and South Chatham Spur, not far from Pecan Street, according to arrest affidavits.
During the investigation, deputies recovered a Glock 19 semi-automatic handgun and approximately 84 grams of suspected marijuana.
Barber admitted the gun was his and told deputies he knew Lewis had marijuana he was reportedly attempting to sell, arrest affidavits for the pair said. Lewis admitted he was trying to sell the marijuana, the report said.
Lewis was charged with possession of a Schedule I drug with intent to distribute, while Barber was charged with illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of a controlled substance.
Deputies located the juvenile on Hwy. 146.
Green was arrested Nov. 20, and Holland, on Saturday.
Barber, Holland, and Green remain in the Lincoln Parish Detention Center. Barber’s bond was set at $25,000, while Holland and Green each face $850,000 bond. The juvenile is being held in the Jackson Parish Detention Center.
Henderson said the incident remains under investigation.
