Louisiana Tech Athletic Director Eric Wood is leaving for a Senior Deputy AD position at Ole Miss, sources confirmed to the Leader Monday.
CollegeAD.com was first to report of the move early Monday morning.
Wood, who served as Tech's AD since Oct. 23, 2020, will return to the SEC to join Ole Miss AD Keith Carter's staff in Oxford, Mississippi, as Senior Deputy Athletic Director, filling the role for Allen Greene, who left for the University of Tennessee last year. Wood will oversee external relations.
The move comes after Wood received a new contract extension in June, extending his deal through Oct. 31, 2027. He was set to be paid $1.675 million over five years with up to $55,000 in incentives.
Before coming to Ruston, Wood served a five-year stint as Senior Associate AD for Competitive Excellence at UCF. Prior to his time at UCF, Wood worked at the University of Arkansas for seven years as an Associate AD and Assistant AD for Student-Athlete Development.
Wood replaced Tommy McClelland as Tech AD after McClelland left after several years in Ruston to work as Deputy Athletic Director of External Affairs at the University of Vanderbilt. McClelland was named as the AD at Rice University in July.
Wood was in attendance for the Tech men's basketball game on Sunday against Liberty and honored Isaiah Crawford pregame with a commemorative basketball.
Wood could not be reached on multiple requests for comment Monday by the Leader.
