The Jackson Parish Branch NAACP #6309 held its annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration program and parade on Monday afternoon. The program honored Jackson Parish civil rights activist Annie Pernell Johnson and paid tribute to Rosie Lee Hammond, the first Black teacher in the Black community for Jonesboro. Louisiana NAACP State Conference President Michael McClanahan (above) was the master of ceremony and Second Judicial District Court Judge Walter May (below in red car) participated in the parade.
