The pinnacle of birthday celebrations, if there’s no piñata to break open, is when the birthday cake comes out and party attendees serenade the guest of honor. The song everyone harmonizes to is among the most widely recognized and well-loved tunes in the world.

DEAR HARRI- ETTE: I work with a woman who I thought was easygoing, but now I realize that she is very different from my first impression of her. She is a complainer. I thought that her gripes were legitimate at first, and I started looking at certain people with disdain much like she does.

Members of Pi Tau Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity recently gathered at the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Complex to share the results of its Sixth Annual Fan Drive. The Grambling organization collected 139 fans for the law enforcement agency to deliver to senior citizens throughout the community. On hand for the presentation are (left to right) Eric Outley, Korick Wilkerson, Richard Bates, G. Stewart, LPSO Maj. Landon Hunt, Remerson Edwards, LPSO Sgt. Iris Winston, LPSO Maj. Sam Chrisman, Michael D. Hendrix Sr., Barry Charles Calahan, Tim Paige, Kendall Damond and Kalvin Bowman. The next project for the fraternity is the school supply drive scheduled for August. Quite by accident, I discovered a multitude of “national” days celebrated this weekend. There’s Veggie Burger Day, Moonshine Day, Ketchup Day, Hot Air Balloon Day, Sausage Roll Day, Applesauce Cake Day, Drive-In Movie Day, and even Yo-Yo Day among others.
