Gold Star Family helps serve local veterans

Wearing “Fly High Jack” shirts that honor their late son and Air Force Academy Cadet Jack, Gold Star Family members Gail and Erskine Lindsey joined members of the local VFW Auxiliary to prepare and serve breakfast for members of VFW Post 3615 on Memorial Day. Gold Star families — spouses, children, parents, siblings and others whose loved one died in service to our nation — are a vital part of the country’s military community and history. Brister honored at Choudrant Elementary

School is out for summer forever for Brenda Brister. After 36 years in the gymnasium and on the playground, the long-time elementary physical education teacher retired from Choudrant Elementary School. VFW commemorates Memorial Day

To commemorate Memorial Day, members of VFW Post 3615 kicked off the weekend by celebrating Poppy Day 2022, a time to remind Americans of the sacrifices made by veterans while protecting America’s freedoms. VFW members were stationed at different businesses throughout the community to distribute the small red poppies that serve as a recognized symbol of sacrifice worn by Americans in honor of those who served and died for our country in all wars. Below, Tom Boniol is stationed in front of Super 1 Foods in Ruston. As Memorial Day dawned, members also gathered to install flags at key locations in Ruston. Victim of alleged serial rapist sues Louisiana Tech

One year after a student was accused of serial sexual assaults at three Louisiana college campuses, a woman he allegedly raped while attending Louisiana Tech University is now suing the school, claiming Tech and other institutions could have stopped the spree if they followed state law.
