Over the last 400 years, if anything was written about African Americans, it was about being hung from gallows or floating down streams, creeks, or rivers for allegedly having assaulted or insulted a white person.

I honestly found it difficult to believe what I was seeing Saturday night as the polls closed and results came rolling in for the school board’s bond proposal in the Ruston school district.

Recession and the 2024 campaign

For more than two years now, Republicans have been predicting that President Joe Biden’s big- spending policies will crash the U.S. economy into recession. It hasn’t happened yet, although the country did experience two consecutive quarters of negative economic growth — a widely accepted definition of recession — in the first and second quarters of 2022. But the economy climbed back into positive growth territory in the next quarter and has stayed there since.

Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is manufactured legally for pain and is prescribed by a licensed health care provider. Fentanyl is also illegally manufactured by criminal elements and is used to lace drugs that are sold to those in America who are illicit drug users.
