RHS cross country confident as regular season winds down

The final regularseason test for the Ruston High crosscountry team has arrived. After competing in just four meets over a two- month period, the Bearcats will close out their schedule with a trip to the Lake Hamilton Invitational in Hot Springs, Arkansas, on Saturday. But don’t let the seemingly small schedule fool you, —Ruston head coach Dustin Cochran made it by design.

Friday mystery: Creek ready for unknown LRCA

It’s no exaggeration to say the Cedar Creek Cougars don’t know what to expect when they take the field against Lafayette Renaissance Charter Academy on Friday. The Tigers are not only 0-4 on the season but started their varsity football program this summer. Originally, the Cougars had an open week when the season started, but coaches at the newly formed program reached out looking to add a game on its docket. Cedar Creek obliged.

Ruston High volleyball closed out its district schedule with a clean, three-set victory against Alexandria Senior High (ASH) Tuesday to give the Bearcats a 19-8 record on the season.

Louisiana Tech Athletics Hall of Fame Class

Louisiana Tech Athletics hosted its Hall of Fame induction ceremony Friday on Karl Malone Court in the Thomas Assembly Center. The Class of 2021 includes two-time Ray Guy Award winner Ryan Allen, two-time Southland Conference Pitcher of the Year Richie LeBlanc, three-time Gulf States Conference champion golfer Roy Pace, five-time All-American jumper Bryant Wesco, Kodak All-American Debra Williams and Super Bowl Champion cornerback Tramon Williams. This ceremony was postponed for a year due to COVID-19. From left are Tech President Les Guice, Wesco, Pace, Tramon Williams, Debra Williams and LeBlanc, along with Director of Athletics/Vice President Eric Wood.

Louisiana Tech golf team closes out Purdue Intercollegiate

WEST LAFAYETTE, Indiana – The Louisiana Tech golf team closed out the Purdue Intercollegiate in windy conditions on Tuesday, placing 15th after a final round score of 310 at the Kampen Course. Tech ( 309- 305- 310– 924) never could break through on the challenging course while playing against a field with eight top-75 teams. James Swash opened his third round with a birdie on the longest par 5 (No. 16) on the course, playing 608 which briefly put him in the top 12 individually. However, that was the lone birdie the fifth-year senior could register as he finished the day with a 77 (+5), placing him in a tie for 24th at +7 (72-74-77–223).

Lady Tigers cruise in 3 past MVSU at SWAC Round-up

HUNTSVILLE, Alabama — The Grambling State University volleyball team showed no effects from its five-set match against Alabama A&M late Sunday night as the Lady Tigers concluded play in the SWAC Round-up with a 3-0 sweep of Mississippi Valley State Monday.
