After the disappointing 3-9 season the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs endured last year on the gridiron, rays of hope were shining in the spring game on Saturday morning at Joe Aillet Stadium.
Grambling State pitcher Shemar Paige (second from left) was honored over the weekend by GSU for pitching the 34th perfect game in collegiate history Friday night against Alcorn State. Paige needed just 84 pitches to record all 27 outs without a runner reaching base. He also recorded 13 strikeouts. As expected heading into the 2-5A district track meet, Ruston High dominated the competition and advanced a plethora of athletes to the Class 5A Region I meet this week.
In blasting district foe Ouachita 14-0 Wednesday, the Ruston Bearcats ran their winning streak to seven games and, more importantly, are now one game behind West Monroe in the District 2-5A standings with one game to play.
