Head Start hosts Moving Families Forward training

Head Start in Lincoln Parish hosted trainings for moms and dads of children enrolled in the program. These trainings were designed to improve the development outcomes of children and families.
The moms training was titled, “Her Family, Her Finances, Her Future.” The special guest was Amy Brister from the Lincoln Parish School Board.
She discussed children transitioning from Head Start to kindergarten.
Representat ives from Centric Federal Credit Union explained the importance of budgeting, finances and purchasing a home.
Dr. La Wanna Gunn discussed the importance of mental health, while Humanitarian Enterprises of Lincoln Parish (HELP) Agency staff Angela Davis and Olevia Harris provided information on emergencies and crisis intervention.
The dads training was titled, “His Family, His Finances, His Future.” Guest speaker was Karee Wahid from Head Start Collaboration Office in Baton Rouge, who spoke on the importance of father engagement in the child’s life.
Eldred Hardison, with the Lincoln Parish Sheriff Department, spoke on substance misuse and tobacco product use.
