While the event wasn’t held as a tournament this year because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Ruston High School did host the second annual Remington Butler Classic Thursday night with a doubleheader against Sterlington at the RHS Boys Gym. Butler, who was a freshman member of the RHS boys basketball team at the time, died two days short of his 15th birthday along with his mother Kendra Butler on April 25, 2019, when an F3 tornado ripped through parts of Ruston, sending a tree crashing through their home. Pictured is RHS head coach Ryan Bond (left) presenting RHS graduate Cam Murphy, the son of Kendra Butler and brother of Remington Butler, with a gift before the start of Thursday night’s boys game against Sterlington.
