An Arcadia man faces several charges today including attempted armed robbery with a firearm after he reportedly tried to get another man to transfer money to him at gunpoint.

Dontavious C. Tibbs, 23, was arrested by Grambling police late Tuesday afternoon near the intersection of Central Avenue and the Stadium View apartment complex parking lot.

According to Tibbs’ arrest affidavit, police were dispatched to an address on nearby Edith Rose Lane in reference to a black male with draids wearing all black and shooting near a Grambling business.

The victim told police he and another person were walking back from a grocery store on Main Street when Tibbs approached him about transferring money via a cash app. When the victim refused, Tibbs allegedly pulled a .380 handgun and told the victim he was serious.

That’s when the victim’s companion yelled at Tibbs to put the gun away. Instead, Tibbs fired three shots, the affidavit said.

The victim, his companion, and Tibbs then fled the area.

Officers reportedly saw Tibbs fleeing with a dark-colored handgun and were able detain him.

Tibbs is charged with attempted armed robbery with a firearm, illegal use of a weapon, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, and possession of Schedule I – Ecstasy.

Tibbs was booked into the Lincoln Parish Detention Center.
