Candidate forums coming
The Ruston Daily Leader will hold a series of candidate forums featuring contenders for local races on the Oct. 12 ballot.
All of the events are being held at the Lincoln Parish Library Events Center; all are free and open to the public. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for a 30-minute meet-andgreet, followed by a forum during which candidates will respond to questions submitted by attendees.
The series will feature candidates for Lincoln Parish sheriff, clerk of court and assessor, as well as for the contested Lincoln Parish Police Jury seats.
“Part of our responsibility as a community newspaper is to help voters have as much information as possible upon which to make their choices at the polls,” Ruston Leader General Manager Cody Richard said. “We believe bringing the candidates and the voters together is a good way to get the issues front and center.”
Here’s the schedule:
Sept. 12 – Candidates for Lincoln Parish Sheriff
Sept. 16 – Candidates for Lincoln Parish Police Jury Districts 1, 2, 3 and 4
Sept. 17 – Candidates for Lincoln Parish Police Jury Districts 5, 7 and 8
Sept. 23 – Candidates for Lincoln Parish Police Jury Districts 10 and 12
Sept. 26 – Candidates for Lincoln Parish Clerk of Court and Lincoln Parish Assessor
The events are sponsored by Origin Bank and will include refreshments provided by Uptown Downtown.
