Dubach police officer arrested on drug charges
Lincoln Parish sheriff’s deputies have arrested a Dubach police officer on drug distribution charges, along with a list of other infractions.
James P. McCullin, Jr., 37, was taken into custody Tuesday night after agents with several law enforcement agencies executed search warrants at McCullin’s residence on Hunt Road and at the Dubach Police Department.
According to McCullin’s arrest affidavit, investigators found methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. McCullin reportedly told officers he was holding the drugs and the paraphernalia for someone, and that he had obtained the items while working as a Dubach police officer.
McCullin had been with DPD about 18 months, Dubach Mayor Mona Wilson said.
She said McCullin has been dismissed and the town and police department are cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
McCullin is charged with two counts of distribution of Schedule II controlled dangerous substance, as well as possession of a firearm during a CDS felony, malfeasance in office, possession of Schedule I-marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of Schedule II-methamphetamine.
As of midday Wednesday, he remained in the Lincoln Parish Detention Center on $220,000 bond.
