Human remains found in Lincoln Parish

Human remains have been found in Lincoln Parish at the intersection of Highway 563 and Interstate 20.

The Lincoln Parish Sheriff ’s Office said in a Facebook post that the remains have been sent to the medical examiner to determine cause of death and that information is very limited at this time.

LPSO spokesperson Matt Henderson said during a phone call Tuesday that a motorist briefly pulled over at the intersection around 12:50 p.m. Monday and was “at the wrong spot at the wrong time.”

“Tests will be run to determine the identity,” Henderson said. “It could be upward of 12 weeks before we have an identity. But if the DNA is in our system, we could get a positive identification very quickly. So we’re hoping to have the identity in the coming weeks.”

Henderson said LPSO does not have any open missing person cases at this time.
