Library set to open curbside Monday
The Lincoln Parish Library will reopen for curbside services only starting Monday as part of a phase-by-phase approach to resuming operations.
Phase 1 will begin Monday and run for a week until May 26. Reduced hours during this time will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Patrons may place requests for materials through the library’s website, mylpl.org, through the chat service on that website, through email at randrs@mylpl.org, on the “Lincoln Parish Library” Facebook page, or by phone at 318-513-5510.
The library closed its doors on March 18 as the coronavirus pandemic hit Louisiana and has provided only parking lot Wi-Fi and a shelf of books outside the front door since that time.
For curbside service, materials can be ordered by specific title, author or subject matter. Requests made while the library was closed will be filled first, and others will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Patrons will be assigned a pickup time, and staff will bring the materials out to the patron.
“We are very appreciative for the patience and understanding shown during this difficult time,” library Director Vivian McCain said. “We respectfully ask that you continue being patient as we work through all the guidelines and mandates we must follow. Our main concern is for the safety of all our staff and the public that we serve.”
The second phase of reopening will begin May 26, with patrons being allowed to enter the library with limited services. Social distancing will be required per Centers for Disease Control guidelines, and only 25% the maximum occupancy will be allowed.
Computer, copier and fax services will be available. There will be no study rooms and no meeting room availability. The Library Events Center will remain closed.
